(When technology becomes more "personal")
While scrolling through social media, I noticed that more AI apps that are being advertise highlight features of being a "virtual friend" that someone can talk to. Some even offer options to customize the AI's gender, personality, attitude, and more.
It made me wonder—have we really reached a point where, despite the billions of people on Earth, many still feel alone and have no one to talk to? If you think about it, the existence of these advertisements means there is a market for such products. There’s an audience—a potential group of people these products are targeting. It’s saddening to realize that we are living in a time when people are beginning to rely on technology to "replace" or "substitute" real-life relationships and connections.
So if you’re not part of their audience, consider yourself fortunate. Be grateful that you have people around you with whom you can confide at any time. In addition to that, if you know someone you haven’t talked to in a while, try reaching out to them. Call them, send a message, or meet up somewhere. Who knows? You might be surprise by what you'll discover about each other.
Alternatively, if you find yourself on the other side of the coin, please don’t let that situation become your norm. Try to explore life, meet new people, expand your network, and be open to new connections. Maybe the best friend you’ve been looking for is just around the corner. 🙂
