(a Maundy Thursday reflection from "Kingdom Come" - Holy Week Retreat of Feast Bay Area)

"Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you." — John 13:14–15 (NIV)

The washing of the feet is the highlighted event during Maundy Thursday. Here, Jesus—the King of all Kings—humbles Himself and shows us how to be a servant to others. He doesn't just instruct what to do; He shows us how to do it.

That’s what makes Him so amazing. He draws people to Himself not by demanding allegiance but by demonstrating love. He is not an ordinary leader who sits on a throne waiting for a report on how many people we have converted. He desires a relationship. A relationship that lasts forever. Even when we wander and stray, He continues to reach out because He wants us back. He is always waiting, always loving, always near.

==========

Prayer:

Dear Lord,

Thank You for showing us what a true servant should be. As Your days on earth were coming to an end, You could have asked to be pampered, but instead, You chose to humble Yourself and be the servant.

I'll forever boast of Your goodness, Lord. I’m happy and thankful that I have a God like You.

Amen.
